ITT/Barton Hydramotor Replacement
PMT's SuperThrust actuator was specifically designed to replace the ITT/Barton Hydramotor as a like-for-like drop in replacement. PMT has designed the SuperThrust actuator to be low maintenance, with high reliability.
Each unit comes with a five year warranty on parts. All components are externally mounted to facilitate field maintenance with no special tools. It can be mounted in any configuration from horizontal to vertical and has external oil reservoir site glass for operator convenience.
- Qualified for harsh environment in accordance with
IEEE-323, 344 and 382
- Five year warranty
- Low maintenance
- High reliability
- Proportional and two position models available

Installed Units at D.C. Cook
The following are pictures of SuperThrust actuators installed at D.C. Cook. They operate the control room dampers. Differences from units supplied as replacements for the ITT/Barton Hydramotor:
- They have the larger oil tank, size was not a consideration in the application. The latest design of the SuperThrust has the smaller oil tank and junction box (for proportional units only).
- They have a manual operator (which is available on all units as an ad on).
- They are 3-position, lock-in-last position actuator. Note the position switches on the units, it is the large shaft protruding from the actuator with the "go switches" mounted adjacent to shaft.
- The motor is larger, D.C. Cook requires a three phase, 575 VAC motor. The motor supplied was a 1/3 HP unit versus the 1/6 HP, 120 VAC unit for the ITT/Barton Hydramotor replacement.
Latest Design
The following pictures show the latest design from PMT for the SuperThrust actuator. Notice the small oil tank. The outline of the SuperThrust actuator does not protrude any further than the ITT/Barton Hydramotor allowing it to be retrofitted to any existing application.
